Reverting back to a thread I started about a month ago or so, I was looking to buy a 308 win. Well I've decided on the Savage Precision Carbine in 308 Win. Does anyone know if the detatchable magazine is one that is only made by Savage or is it based off of the M14 style magazine. Also does anyone here have any personal experience with this rifle.

It's a Savage magazine. I have a PC in 223. Hand down, the most accurate rifle I own. Let me say that it's the only Savage I own so I have no loyalty to the brand. It's a true 1/2" shooter with almost anything I tried.

Thanks Scott. Your experience with the accuracy is on par with everything I've read or been told about. It sure would have been nice if the mags could be shared with the M14 style of mag. Oh well I guess we cant have everything in life.

Merry Christmas,
Brad

Don"t expect to see any of the major gun manufactures to uses a M14 mag.in ther guns as they can't be sold in are Socialist Peoples Republic of California because every one here knows that magazines that holds over 10 rounds are evil.

There is a work around for this assuming you have some basic metal working skills. I turned my BAS10/K & BA110 10 round clips into 19 round clips..Smiler..Using a band saw you cut the very top of the clip staying level with the base and only cutting the folds. Be sure to push the plate and spring down before cutting. You should have a perfect rectangle. From the other clip simply remove the bottom floor plate. Silver soldier the springs and attach the upper plate. The bottom of the second clip should align perfectly with the cut off top. Join these with "tin" soldier, sand and blue! It takes some time and a bit of forming but if it's done right, it looks like a factory made clip. Only problem is that you need more clearance when shooting.
