Has any used these in Medium bore rifles? The cartridge and bullet combo I plan on using is a 160 gr A-Frame in a 280 Rem.

Actually I am interested in these in almost all of the medium bores.

Target information is nice, as I want to know how they shoot, but I really am interested in performance on game.

How do these compare to Trophy Bonded
Speers?

You'll like them, I alternate between them and FailSafes. They're a little bit more accurate but nothing to worry about. The only fly in the ointment is they don't penetrate as far as FailSafes. I think they are better than the TBBC's based on my own experience but they are very similar in performance.

I've had good luck with the A-frames. As tough or maybe slightly tougher than TBBC's. They've been real accurate in a couple of rifles that didn't seem to like other bullets. (Accuracy and whether your gun likes a certain bullet is always a crap shoot).

I'm going to give the 250 grainers a try in my .338 RUM. I've heard nothing but good things.

Yes, we used the 160 Swift in Namibia, and it worked just fine, but never recovered any bullets.

Compared to the TBBC, the Swift penetrates deeper, but I feel the TBBC "kills" better.

Accuracy (groups) is a toss up depending on your rifle.

I use these in 19,5g weight. Why? Because these are accurate in my rifle, they're readily available where I live, and they work well on moose.

I must second Cobra and my other knowlegeable colleagues on this topic. You really can't go wrong with A-Frames, Failsafes or TBBCs. Your rifle will tell you which bullet it prefers.

I use them in my '06. 180 grn. I've only recovered one.

They group right at an inch in my 06. I got a bit better groups in my 300 HH with partitions. But not much.

For the big bears, try the 275-grain A-Frame on you .338RUM. The extra weigh slows it down a little, and provides deeper penetration.

I have used the 250 grainers and my .338WM on moose, with excellent results. I also load the 275 grainers at around 2550 fps, but have not used them on bears.

Just got back from Africa. Used the '06 Rem factory loads with the 180s in my Krieghoff Classic double.

Took 9 animals from Steenbuck to Wildebeast, Zebra and Kudu. Perfromance was perfect. Even took a white springbuck at a lasered 210 meters with one shot. Recovered bullets only in the Impala. My experience has shown that I only recover very few bullets and only from smaller animals. Seems the mass of the larger ones allows deeper penetration and comlete pass through.

This was my first experience with the '06, however I have used the 9.3 (250s) on 2 other trips to Africa with flawless performance.

Accuracy is great, however some rifles my friends use are not a Swift friendly as mine. All are well within "minute of _____ (insert your game animal here)."

schromf, what has impressed me about the Swift bullets overall is that their quality control is second to none. The A frame is a very concentric bullet. I have a friend in Columbus that is a firm believer in the one bullet/one gun mentality. In his 300 WM, he shoots 200 grain Aframes, for everything. He shoots factory ammo. From his browning Abolt, he groups an honest 1/2" with 3 shots.

I took him to Kansas with me a few years ago. He shot a nice 10 point buck 10 minutes into opening morning at 25 yards. The buck was quartering to him and the bullet blew right through the deer. It managed to run 45 yards into a creek (tough to get out). But the damage was beyond impressive.

I've seen a couple of guys do some tests up at the range where I shoot and the Aframe has always been a winner in terms of penetration and accuracy. In fact, I would argue that the Aframe is less picky than the Scirocco for developing accuracy.

One thing is for sure, you will not be dissapointed with the results on game.
