You are suffering from the syndrome called asymmetric caliber distribution. It will generally go away when you have at least 2 of everything. Looking at your list you seem to have a minimum hunting battery but no goof off rifles. How about a small CZ in .22 Hornet. 223 or a .204? You are also missing a classic deer cartridge rifle like a 336 Marlin in .30/30 or .35 Rem. | |||

I have a 9,3x62 and a 270 - Both bolt rifles. It's one of the best hunting combos (IMO) to cover N American big game there is. So... would recommend a 270 (or a 25-06) to go with your 9,3! ________ Ray | |||

It would be sacriligious to have a 9.3x62 in any action but a Mauser, its just not done! Remington Sendero in a 7mag or a 300 Win. mag would be a good choice.The Sendero is a tack driver. | |||

unless you're going to africa i cant see any need for something new... the only thing must be a rifle who packs more punch at longer ranges. something like a .300wby or bigger/faster or a more specialized gun like a autoloader, heavy and super-accurate, lightweight mountain rifle, etc. | |||

Looks like a very nice set of basic tools! Might want to add a .223 varmint rifle and something between the .270 and the 9,3x62 like a .338-06 ... but you do have a nice set of choices now. How about a braked 22 BR? NO recoil, be able to spot shots all day...and they should mostly go into the same hole. Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.  | |||

You've got some nice hunting riles, IMHO you need a black rifle. But then again I think everyone under the age of 60 should have to successfully shoot a qualification course with a 5.56mm rifle that takes M-16 magazines before they'd be allowed to vote.  | |||

So, you have a 9.3x62 which is about in the power house of the 350 Rem Mag and 35 Whelen, (nice) and you have a 45-90, about a few hundred FPS over the 45-70.  Without a profile I’m guessing you’re located more north. According to Wikipedia the Paleo Indians were found in “taiga" is used to describe the more barren northern areas of the Arctic tree line. Nice logon name to use. “Cheers†You have a 270 / good big game deer and elk cartridge, and 243 Win (that’s a fun re-loader) 55 grainer’s up to 110 average bullet sizes. I’ll have to agree with ireload2 you are missing the classic deer cartridge’s like the 30-30 Winchester and 35 Remington. I like my Whelen more than the 35 Remington but I’ve taken more deer with my 35 Rem.I don’t see the reason in a 30-30 if I already have a 35 Remington. So, to make it interesting  I would go for a longer range 30-30 Winchester replacement….Ready, I would buy a 300 Savage and cut the barrel down to 20 inches or less maybe 18 ½. Rem 700 Classic’s are still available if you like them? 110 Hollow points up to around a 180 grain Round nose bullets, sounds like easy fun shooting, enough for deer, black bear and elk and light on the shoulder. | |||

Don't see much in the way of a boomer in your lineup. Might want to think of a magnum just because you can, not because it's necessary  . My medium bore boomer of choice was the 338-378 Wby. Absolute riot to shoot. Pricy ammo unless you reload. There are of course the more subdued magnums like the 300 or 338 Win which are fun and more "dollar" friendly.The other side of the coin is to find a fun and inexpensive plinker (something I need to buy for sure). I always need a new gun. I don't think there will ever be a time when I wouldn't like to have another gun. Funds, and my wife, are limiting factors now. Looks like you need something in the .223 or .22-250 range. You might also consider a 30/30 and a 30-06. Everyone ought to have at least one of them. Hope you find what you want. Red C. I'd save for a hunt. Seems you have more than enough guns for NA. At $1,300.00 per rifle, you only need to save the cash for 4-5 rifles to have enough for a fine hunt. Guns are nice, but they don't make the memories our hunts do. Give it some thought. Good Luck....... | |||

My medium Rifle is the 338 Rem. Ultra Mag. That rifle is a sweetheart. I have a break on it that I can remove and put a thread protector on when hunting. A thread protector is a device that I can screw on the threads for protection. | |||

get your self a decent pre 64 winchester lever. Most all of them are really fun to shoot ! But I did'nt see a 30 cal in there either, A .308 is about as usfull as they come...tj3006 freedom1st | |||

Your biggest gap is between the 270 and the 9.3x62. A 300 win mag would fit in nicely there. Damn, I like the way you think! Now, for other comparisions:
And me personally, I have: Rem 673 in .350 RMag (compare that to the 9.3...) Ruger #1 in 7x57 (compare to the .270...and putting deposit down tommorow for it!) Rem. M7MS in 257 Roberts (compare to the .243...) AND... A Marlin 336 in .35 Rem. IMO, you need a levergun. Take yer pick, 30-30 or .35 Rem. Gotta have a lever in the collection. You've got all the other bases covered...just need a levergun. And an M1 Garand. Gotta have a classic military rifle. Yeppers! That'll work...  Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! If ya do a lever gun.. get a good one.. although the 30/30 and 35 Rem are great... a 444 is better still... just as much range.. a lot more hitting power... if you handload, there are tons of great bullets that it can use that are made for the 44 Rem Mag.... and it is a round that not every Tom, Dick and Harry have...so it gives you distinction... I've owned one since 1981... any firearm I had from back then has been traded or rebarreled... only difference in that 444 is the number of hunting scratchs it has accumulated and I keep on swapping scopes on it...( who knows why)... Just took Seafire jr out and let him shoot it the other day, down loaded to only 1000 or so fps... with 240 and 300 grain XTP bullets.. after a few trees with diameters of 5 or 6 inches were blown in half with one shot.. he is sold on it.. Thanks for the replies. I have been toying with the idea of turnning the Sharps lose and useing it to get another Ruger #1 in something like 450/400 or 458 Lott, and maybe have some cash left over. I oly shoot the Sharps maybe once every couple of years. Blackpower is kind of a pain and I don't know of a smokless load. Damn don't know what to do; or if I should do anything?? | |||
