Wasn't this posted last week? Sako. Because I think the Xbolt is fugly, gaudy and unpleasing to my eyes. I'm sure they're fine shooting guns and they have many ardent supporters that just love the sexy lines of the xbolt, but to me it's just gross. Even though many here have probly shot game with them and have shot teeny tiny little groups with their xbolt, the Sako just looks better to me. Plus I'm a Sako guy and I think Sako's are good guns. The A7 is like a compromise between a Tikka and a Sako 85. I don't think you can go wrong with a Sako. ----------------------------------------------------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him. I have not doubt about the X version being a quality rifle, but believe their marketing group has attempted to capture both Euro styling and who knows what else and as pointed out, just does not seem to be a fit. Similar styling as Browning's Cynergy shotgun. Sure it works, but radical departure from what most are looking for in a firearm, at least stateside. Would not come as a shock that soon Brng. will offering similar "rebates" on the X rifle as they are doing on the shotgun, sales just aren't there from what I have been told. When I look at a Browning Safari of some few decades ago, you got to ask the question, why would you switch from that to what is available today?? If it's not broke, don't fix it!!

My X-bolt 308 will not shoot those teeny tiny groups, but it does a hair over 1 inch from sandbags @ 7X mag. I think the Sako looks Fugly. I wasn't crazy about ANY of the plastic stocks. I grew up around Walnut and shiny blued steel. BUT after using it for 2 seasons, my X-bolt has a tremendous functional beauty to it.(the black/black one) Other people dig it, if that matters. It handles and shoots very well quickly, if that matters to you. It does here in PA. Plus, it costs less. You can get my rifle here in Warren County for $700. The GLOCK was a visual travesty, but now it has ardent admirers. If you exercised your freedom and aren't in jail, thank a liberal.

Same price range gun, same quality, same support from both camps. I say this one is literally a coin toss lol. Go to the store, pick heads tail for either gun and have the nearest guy call it. Purchase winner, go kill game! If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

No brainer for me - SAKO all the way. I've had a few Brownings most were OK though one did have the roughest cobb of a barrel I've ever seen on a factory rifle. Shot alright but nothing outstanding. I also still own several Sako's. They all shoot from very good to outstanding, have great triggers, guaranteed accuracy and function smoother than any Browning I ever tried. This decision is no comparison for me - Buy the Sako.......................DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

I have both Sako and Browning rifles. They each can hold their own. I've had more people walk two or three shooting stations over to look at the Browning. The Sako feels smoother, better made. Luckily, in my rack, they don't overlap in calibers. I take the Sako (375 H&H) when I'm after something that might not like being hunted. I take the Browning (300 WSM) when I'm hunting anything else.

Wasn't browning the first company to make the plunge into WSMs? I thought I remember reading something about they were the first to design a rifle around them and Winchester, being a sister company, was actually 2nd but the Win name was put on the cartridge names?
