Has anyone on here bought or shot one of the Nosler Patriot rifles? Any information would be appreciated!

I just started shooting one and posted about it in the small bore side. Mine is a 6.5-284 and it is the most accurate over the counter gun I have owned. The trigger, finish, and dimensions are well thought out and executed. I also like that they use Rem 700 bases. It is a lot of rifle for the money.

I believe them to be Howa's actions. One has to wonder if the stock is worth the price difference from a Howa, unless they did other work on them that I'm not aware of.

They are not Howa's. The similarity is because the designer is the same person. The parts are not interchangeable.

Looking at the Howa and Nosler actions side by side, they look almost identical.

Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

They are the same action with a few cosmetic touches. It has been argued and proven on several web forums, plus no one at Nosler could show the actions being made by them, which only requires a cellphone with a camera and an internet connection.

Even if the action is a Howa there is a lot more to a rifle than just the action. A Festiva is a Ford yet performance is not equal to a Mustang. Same emblem surrounded by many different parts. You could square a Howa up and add the parts to make it equal, but it would cost you about the same in the end. For what they cost, I personally feel like with the Nosler you are getting what you pay for.

With a good code slinger and a CNC machine it is not too difficult to design and produce your own action. For the kind of money Nosler wants for one I would have thought they would have bought CRF actions, at least.

One nice thing about buying them, as opposed to building them is shared liability for problems. If somebody else actually makes them, they get sued.

Quintus,
if you compare the rally model to the standard Mustang the Mustang loses...

No, they're not identical to a Howa action, and they are not made in house, but made to spec, in Oregon, designed by the same guy who designed the Howa action, as was previously posted. A very stiff action I might add.

The Patriot is a great value that can be had for $1300. Add up the cost for a custom trigger, custom proprietary action, match grade Pac-Nor barrel, hand laid fiber stock, pillar and glass bedding, cerakoted metal......My 7-08 is supremely accurate.

A Nosler representative on another board:

Funny how he says it was designed by THEIR OWN TEAM and never mentions that guy who supposedly designed both actions.

Not to beat a dead horse or add another to the tens of threads discussing this, they use a Howa action with a few retouches. Search the web and see what people who compared them say, including those who interchanged bolts. Nosler could have ended this many years ago with a simple photo of the actions being machined here, but they never did. That's the last I'm going to say on this and everyone can make their own minds.
