Beeman, take a look at the B.C's of Barnes, Groove, or GS customs.

The comparison is, as stated, copper bullets vs. heavy cup bullets. Currently, my 7mag flings a 130 gr. GS custom at just about 3400 fps. It has a BC of well over .500. Why anyone would handicap themselves by using heavy bullets in terms of trajectory and recoil, I don't understand. Compared with the lightweight copper bullets, the terminal ballistics are no better, that is for sure.

As far as "the magnums were designed to shoot heavy bullets", that's a howler. They seem quite in their element with lighter, more effective premiums. FWIW, Dutch.

140 grain almost anything were the most accurate in mine. It wasn't until I tried 160 grain North Forks that I've changed my mind. 140's have been been great but these 160's look awesome. I can hardly wait to get out to try them on something other than paper. No... I haven't gotten out yet..we've had a busy year....I know I know..damned sorry excuse...

Dutch, I think we're on a "magic bullet" quest like back when everyone was caught up in magnumitis. "oh yes, its true that a 7mm Rem mag bullet will RISE the first 300 yards" etc, etc.
I think you're on a catch 22 go around. Shoot the smaller bullet to higher velocities but the bullet can't stand the stress so they make a harder bullet. Soooo might as well see if we can't make those come apart too. And so on. Dead is dead. And you can't show me where your hot dog, boy howdy screamers do anything that my say 300WM with a 200 or my 7Mag with a 160 does. Don't insult me or delude yourself with any trajectory bullshit as all you guys have those laser toys and I don't shoot at game much beyond 300 yards.
Yup, smoke and mirrors. [Big Grin]
