seafire230-06 bullet for bear
all I know, is that if I have to rely on the 30 caliber's maximum firepower punch, then I'd load the 220 grain Nosler, regardless of which 30 caliber round I was carrying...
I'd also tend to go with the heavier calibers as mentioned so frequently above....
the 9.3 x 62 Mauser would be consider minimum in reality.. and a round I would never need in the lower '57' states ( lower 48 if you are not an Obama supporter) would actually look awfully good if in Alaska, the 416.. either Rem or Rigby...

dwheelsThis story is exactly the same as one I heard a year ago. A friend of mines father drew out a buffalo on Antelope Island here in Utah. His father insisted on using the 06 instead of his sons 338. I called Barnes and asked Ty what load to use. He suggested using the 180 TSX and recommended a starting load. Long story short the man killed a buffalo with a neck shot. The TSX penetraed 5 inches of the neck vertibrae and was found in the skin on the off side. The bullet retained 85% of its weight. It shed one petal and part of another. DW
