30-06 to 300 Dakota?

Posted this on the Gunsmithing forum also--didn't know where was best..

I have a takeoff 30-06 barrel, standard contour from a Sako M-85, is it possible/advisable to rechamber it to 300 Dakota?

Probably. But I believe you'd be better off with a .308 Norma Mag. instead of that .300 Dakota.........

Thanks guys, I'll check into the 308 Norma Mag, I already decided to forego the 30-338.....
