60 gr= 2506 fps
61 gr= 2573 fps

9,3x74R VV N133 oal 94 mm:

Try RL-15 if you want some real velocity with that great bullet..if you have access to that powder where you are....

Nice group! I have also had excellent results with RL15. If not available, R903 or Norma 203 is just about the same powder.

Varget was the first powder I tried when I began shooting a 9.3x62, and I haven't felt the "need" to try anything else.

BTW excellent group!!!

Guys thanks for a heads up - The barrel is a bit short for R903 or RL15 although it might work (I believe I could squeeze 2600 out of it) , however with VV133 I get a more complete burn - less recoil and less fireball ahead of the muzzle in low light so I will leave it just as it is for the moment - it will be The load for this season - will see how it goes and report.

Good point about the barrel length. I shoot my 9.3x62 loads from a 22" barrel, so yours is a good 2" shorter.

I have both an Attache' barrel and Tracker length barrel in 9.3x62 and am currently using the same loads in both. Accuracy is excellent in both (<1"), but they do "print" slightly different.

Interesting you use VV 133. I always thought that was a powder for the 6mmBR! Is the load data published for this caliber?

You are right - from Vihtavuori relo guide:

"N133:

A choice of many bench rest and standard rifle shooters who are using 6 mm PPC. Used also in many loads of .222 Remington, .223 Remington and as well in other applications where a relatively fast burning powder is needed, like in .45-70 Government. Similarly burning powders are Norma 201,Hodgdon H335 and Vectan SP10."

No load data for caliber - it was just a try at beginning - there were N135, N140, R902 and R901 in play - not having N135 at hand at the moment but N133 I gave it a go and got the above.

No, as Mouse notes, N133's claim to fame is in the PPC calibers. 6mm BR would be N135 in VV powders.

Just got my first game with that load (9,3x62 VV N133 oal 83 mm) - roebuck - buck was shot slightly uphill - spine was hit in the lower half - died on the spot without a hitch:

entry:

exit is rather large - mainly because of spine fragments:

signs on the spot:

- blood with particles of lungs and spine fragments:

- hair:

Bullet continued in a straight line - grazed a beech tree 20m behind the buck and continued - I didn't find it:

I think an excellent powder for the 9,3x62 is R902, expecially in short barrels.
But like mho told, R15, N202 and R903 are quite similar, they are coming out of the same pot at Bofors!
