I won a new weatherby 30.06 In either 97-or 98 I beleive it was 98 any ways its a Mark V sporter 22 inch. wood stock dont know if they made synthetic. Brand new in the box still with the protective rubber molding on the end of the bolt. Like I said mint condition never been shot except for the Target in the box with the bullet hole that they shoot at the factory. I believe when i won it the guy said it was a 1000 dollar gun any ideas what i could get now for it, any help would be appreciated.

Weatherby's website shows a Mark V sporter for about $1400 BUT NOT AVAILABLE IN 30-06 Are you sure this is a Mark V....or a vanguard? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Absolutely Positive Mark v Deluxe sporter 22 inch barrel. Like I said i won it when i was either 18 or 19 which would of been 1997 or 98 but Im leaning towards 98 so the gun is at least 8 years old. Its a beautiful gun, I was told the the Mark V Deluxe is one of the few Weatherby's made in the 30-06 caliber.

all I can say is to place it to auction on Gunbroker or other site and see what it brings... I don't think i really want to sell it i just came across it yesterday while visiting my Grandparents and I had totally forgot all about it. Its really a nice gun, I hunt whitetail, bear and varmints up here, i bought a Ruger M77 Mark11 stainless when I was 14 with my own money and have been using it for deer and bear evr since, never had a need for the new one. Been wondering if i should just keep it, or maybe wait another 10 years or so to sell. I was wondering if this gun will increase in value or basically stay the same. I asked the value on Gunbroker and I got one reply said they sell for 1100 at shows if its made in Japan which were from 77 to 94 I believe the german made guns are more valuable i have no idea which it is i will have to check.

I am not real sure of this but doesn't Weatherby keep records of all the guns that get there name. You might be able to call or write weatherby and get all the info on the origin, date completed, and all kinds of cool history on your gun. I am not sure they keep anyone around that could tell you the value of the arm, but that is no reason not to find out as much as you can about it. Sounds like a keeper to me. In 10 -15 years you might want to give it to your children. Would make a splendid gift for a childs graduation or grandchilds birth.

Weatherby Always made their MKV DeLuxe in 30.06, not sure about the sporter. Roy even said that it would be bad business not to chamber his rifle in the most popular caliber in the US! jorge USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member
