So I just got my 'new' Husqvarna today, it finally came in. How do I go about finding out when it was made and exactly what model it is? It's a 9.3x57 with the long bbl. It's a small ring action with the thumb cut receiver and stripper clip notch. Stock has no cheek piece. Serial number is 5578. So far, I'm thrilled with the rifle. It fits me like a glove and points as naturally for me as my arm does. And it's got the nicest wood I've ever seen on a Husqy. The bluing is also almost perfect. It will probably only get minor alterations: cock on open, extended floorplate release, aftermarket mag follower that will allow the bolt to close without depressing it, maybe express sights. Speaking of which, the guy at the shop said he had seen express sights that will simply go on in place of the existing rear sight blade. Does anyone know of such sights? Finally, here's a couple pics:

Date of manufacture is 1931. I have one with a sn of 55XX also, and several others. Great little rifles. Do yourself a favor, check the rear tang for adequate relief. If not, relieve it and bed the action. the swedes built a nice rifle but their stockwork as far as inletting goes left a lot to be desired. A good many of these rifles have cracks running down the wrist due to the lack of relief and improper recoil lug contact. Aut vincere aut mori

Ditto what Z1R said about checking inletting and sufficient relief. You'd hate to crack that beautiful stock. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.
