Anyone have thoughts on the Remington 700 5R Gen 2?
It is out there in .308, 6.5 Creed and .300 WM.

What say you?

5R (Radius) rifling has been in use for decades; Mike Rock made the first ones I ever saw and used on the M24 Sniper Rifle.
Im my opinion, it is just another idea, neither good nor bad, offering nothing useful. In theory the driving side of the land last longer. And the 5 grooves is more magic, because a land is not opposite a land. (7 groove rifling was used in the Civil War on the 3 inch Ordnance Rifle, and those had gain twist rifling too, so not all that revolutionary.
And of course Enfields have 5 grooves. But not radiused.
Does it really help?
I have one, in 7.62, on a 700 action, in a chassis stock. It shoots, fine.

I have one in .308 and, the .300 WM. Very accurate rifles and the easiest barrel to clean that I have ever seen.
