My gunsmith posted these on the other forum I frequent. Thought I'd share with you guys. He says the action weighs 10oz now! Started life as a R700 .243, and will have a new life as an ultralight 300wsm, AR15 extractor, custom synthetic stock(similar to a Kifaru), Shilen match grade barrel and Timney trigger. Probably going to stick a Zeiss on top. If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

I, too, will be interested to see photos as the project proceeds. Red C. Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I tried to buff out a Mauser with a power buffer once. It looked a lot like that when it was finished. I want to see it all put together. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

No he does not post on here unfortunately. He is so busy he barely has time to post on the other forum once or twice a week as is. Trust me guys I am as excited as all of you to see it come together! These are the first and only pics so far. He has the barrel, and is just waiting on the stock. I forgot what type it is...we originally were going with an H-S but he found something lighter and cheaper. He is going to shape the stock himself to make it similar to a Kifaru. Thats what started this whole project, an idea he had for a stock lol. He has had that action for about 4 years now, we just went back and forth for so long as to what to do with it.....350 Rem Mag, 22 Middlestead, 338 Federal scout rifle....then one day he sent me an email, said how about an ultralight? Now that IS originally my plan for this rifle but I was going to have High Tech do it but never happened. The rounded off look, is from removing metal for weight reduction. Lets see only other detail I can think of is teflon coating lol still not sure of barrel length. It will have a muzzle brake, as I have no desire to shoot a 5lbs 300 mag without one lmao! Probably going to go just a biiiiit short and go 22" so it will be 23.5" with the brake on it. I plan on loading lighter bullets, like the 130 TSX and an upper limit of 165 Fail Safe and Barnes. Seeing as I dont draw bull tags, 165 will be plenty for cow elk, and the 130 will be perfect for deer/sheep/goat and whatever else I decide to shoot. Doubt it will ever go to Africa, he is building a 280 on a 1903 for me for that purpose, and as my all around back up gun.
