Folks, I just want to share my excitement, after a few months of waiting I have finally got word that a cz 9.3x62 will be coming on the next shipment to OZ in April/May. I orginally wanted either the American Model or the Battue. Instead I have no choice but to take the Lux model. They have got a few in there next shipment and I have decided to take what I can get as there not sure about wether they can get the particular models that I am interested in. Any way the lux model will suit me fine. I have wanted a 9.3x62 ever since you lot started singing it's praises. Be proud of yourselves as once again you have mangaged to bust my budget I do not need this rifle (I have a .375 H&H) I just want to own one because some of you guy's do [ 03-26-2003, 14:50: Message edited by: PC ]

Don't feel too bad about not getting the American or the Battue. I originally wanted the full stock modle myself, butthe last one is stock was the Lux, and i wanted a 9.3 of my own, regardless. End of the story, the gum fits me well, is extremely accurate and generates looks of surprize and confusion when taken out to play with. The only real disadvantage I've found it has, the low dropping comb combined with a high bench and a high stool, makes shooting diffiuclt. congrats, and welcome to the Fraternal Order of the 9.3x62

We have a CZ American in 9.3 and you are going to enjoy your new rifle. I have a Husky in 9/3. Love it. Welcome to the clan. Stick a 2.5 to 8 with 4 A reticle on top and go kill em all!

Seeing as I have a 30/06 with 180 gr bullets and a .375 with 300 gr loads, should I split the difference and go with either 235 gr 9.3 bullets or 250 gr variety ?? Anyone tried the 9.3 Nos BT's ?? I can get woodleigh's pretty easy here as well. I have a spare 2-7 Vari X 11 Leupold kicking around here I was thinking of putting on it, would prefer a 1-4 but hey I suppose I have to make use of what I have handy.

CZ USA quoted me $125 USD for an American stock, and they should be able to ship it direct to you. Then you get the high-comb stock and iron sights, which may be the best combination of all--my 550 American works just fine with iron sights. 58 gr of RL-15 and the 250 BT shot into 1 MOA at about 2,535 fps. I bet it will run with a 338 with full-power loads. You're going to love your new rifle. Hope this helps, Okie John.

At the moment I am just grateful that I will be able to get one !! You yanks get all the good stuff we just get the scraps down here Any way I may give the BT's a go, but if there cost gets near what a pack of woodleigh's sets me back then it will work out better for me to use woodleigh's. I will be mounting a 2-7x32 leupold Vari X11 on it in cz 550 mounts that were for a 550 magnum I assume thses mounts will fit my 9.3 lux ?? Also has anyone tried the speer 9.3 bullets ?? PC, I shoot speer 270s out of my 9.3. I get pretty good results with them, but I haven't been able to drive them any faster than 2300 and change. by the way, don't feel too bad about getting CZ scraps, up until the fall of the USSR, we yanks had to go to Canada to get CZ anythings [ 03-28-2003, 18:46: Message edited by: Curtis_Lemay ]

Curtis will cz mounts meant for 550 magnum cz's fit my 9.3 lux ?? So curtis have you tried the speers on game ?? Also does the lux 9.3 have those cool looking cros bolts ?? I think that may be the 250 gr variety of bullets might be the best option for the 9.3 as far as hav8ing decent weight and velocity. Also Curtis what scope have you chosen for your 9.3 I will mount a 2-7 Vari X11 leupold what do you think of this on a 9.3 ?? The big 320 gr woodleigh's would only be doing around 2100 fps. quote:I haven't seen the mounts for the safari version, actually i'm the only kid on my block with a cz 550 . As for mouts, I ended up with Warnes on mine, which needed to be shimmed quite a bit and add about 1 lb of weight to the rig. So curtis have you tried the speers on game??
Unfortunately no. I took after whitetails two years in a row, but was thwarted each time before i could use it. But, as with everything that may change with time. Also does the lux 9.3 have those cool looking cros bolts ??
Mine didn't, so I'm going to guess it would be that same with all Lux modles. I did, however, have a very blond stock and, upon further inspection, have 2 recoil lugs mounted on the barrel. I think that may be the 250 gr variety of bullets might be the best option for the 9.3 as far as hav8ing decent weight and velocity.
I haven't tried 250s yet. just some 232 factory loaded ammo which shot so-so and the 270s which it seem to like. Honestly I'm kind of interested in going with a 285/6 or a 300. Also Curtis what scope have you chosen for your 9.3 I will mount a 2-7 Vari X11 leupold what do you think of this on a 9.3 ??
I was given (although i'm not sure if it was out of an act of kindness or pitty) and old 3-9 Vari-X II from my father. Considering I haven't shot it farther than 200 yards (a most unfortunate steel plate had the honor of testing my marksmanship with it off hand) and I'm guessing you'd be using it a lot closer than that, a 2-7 would probably do just as well. The big 320 gr woodleigh's would only be doing around 2100 fps.
That's actually not a bad velocity drop, from 2300 with a 270 gr projectile to 2100 with a 320 gr one. hope this helps answer some of your questions. Yes Curtis you have given me some good advice. Another poster (pygmy) has an American model 9.3 and he got cross bolts. I like the look of them so I hope mine has some. Did you get yours bedded ?? In regards to warne rings I have real trouble with variable scopes vertical split rings like Talley's and warnes and magnum cz actions. They bind the power selector up Thanks again Curtis, was your wood nice ??

PC, Congrats! If you remind me by email, I will send you some loading data for the speer 270 and woodleigh 320 grain bullets. If you shoot the woodleigh 320 grain soft nose for the 360 No. 2, you should find it very soft and it should open up rapidly on those dangerous 'roos.

I have a CZ550 American in 9.3x62, and it came with double cross bolts as well...

quote:nope, not yet...not that i remember (damn cenility). It's just a good shooter. In regards to warne rings I have real trouble with variable scopes vertical split rings like Talley's and warnes and magnum cz actions. They bind the power selector up
That is odd. I can't say I had a similar experience. The trouble though, with the Warnes were their rough finish, but that's another story. Thanks again Curtis, was your wood nice??
No sweat, PC. As for the wood, I was quite happy with it. It was a lot lighter in color than what they display on their web site and in the catalogue, but it was nothing to complain about.
