Curtis_Lemay, it's a standard carbine length 1891, you can still see on the top of the stock where it looks like a handguard was removed. Apparantly int he 50's Williams did a big business in sporterizing rifles. It still has the military barrel, barrel band etc. just no top guard, peep sight added and the stock refinished, checkered and carved. I love carrying it on hunts although I haven't shot any big game with it yet.
