My gun, at our local range, is sighted in 3 inches high at 100 yards, its about 3.5 inches high at 200 and dead on a 265...I can hold on hair at the top of an elk up to almost 400 yards, but holding 5 inches high higher than hair gives me that ability to not hit down near the legs hopefully. I would not shoot at that range normally, but with a good rest, lots of time, I might, but that remains to be seen. 250 or a bit more is the longest shot I have taken or made with the 286 gr. Nosler. Ive seldom seen an animal at 400 yards that I couldn't sneak up another 100 yards..

A statement made on the first day of the year and probably not a wiser word will be spoken for the rest of the year.

It ain't rocket science.....

While I am not nearly so experienced as many on here I have a solid 60 years of building big bore rifles and 8 safaris to Zimbabwe behind me.In this period I have used almost exclusively Nosler Partitions if they were available in the caliber I was loading. I have never owned a rifle they would not shoot in and by that I mean small groups. Small to me is anything under 1 1/4" at 100 yds.I have shot every size game animal from Duiker to Cape Buffalo with absolute success. Anything within 300 yds which is my absolute max range. I figure when you have success why not let good enough alone. To me it's Partitions for everything.

Msot of the posts here reference the 9.3x62. In my part of E Texas which is rather heavily wooded I will go with my milder shooting 9.3x57 aka the potatoe chunker.
