Hi Guys,
I'm clearing some clutter, I have two 7mm rifles, one of which I might let go, they are a Ruger no1 RSI in 7x57 and a Sako Finnlight in 7mm-08.
They are quite different rifles therefore it's not easy to make a sensible choice. Neither will be my go to rifle and as such are Sunday-going-to-shooting rifles. If you were in my position and assuming you are familliar with these two rifles, which one and why, would you put on the for sale rack?

I have been wrong before my wife tells me so.

I'd keep the one that you shoot the best.

Wow, this is a tough one. I love Sako rifles and I love Ruger #1 RSI's (I lean a litle more toward Sako). However, the 7x57 is one of my absolute favorite cartridges -especially in a rifle with a Mannlicher style stock. I can't think of a better "Sunday Afternoon" rifle than this classy combination. Good luck.

A no brainer it's the Ruger has nothing to do with caliber.

EekerOh my! You have a terrible problem. However, consider if you will that the 7mm-08 is really a marginally designed cartridge( I know I'm being generous) and that a single shoot will generally drive the shooter to be a more superior shot. That single shot being in 7X57 is just a bonus. Did that help? hammeringroger

I would sell both of them, and build a boltaction 7x57.
WinchesterM70sa has a 3.08" magbox, if that helps Roll Eyes.

Gidday Oldun,

I hear those Sako Finlights are a heap of junk so why don't you just send it down to me so I can dispose of it in a suitable manner.

I have a space where it can sit to rust away in dignity with an occasional trip out to wear it out.

Honest I will even pay the courier fee to help you with your problem.

Happy Hunting

The 7X57.... but I admit to being prejudiced in favor of the ,57mm case, regardless of the diameter of the bullet!

Keep the finnlite 7mm08, get it threaded and fit a custom PES (made in NZ) supressor and stick a few ounces of weight in the butt.

Hey presto supressed rifle no longer, no heavier and with same balance as normal rifle.....Very very good tool!

Hi Hamish,
Thank you for your more than generous offer. I have had a word with the courier and he will collect, at what I thought was a reasonable charge. If you can send me the $nz2,000 to cover the cost I'll send the rifle on Monday.
Thank you so much.
