I have a couple of cz's now one of them being a lux 9.3x62 with leupold 2-7 in warne fixed mounts on it. They are an excellent rifle and the calibre hits very hard with little recoil. You will have bullets rangin from 232 gr right through to the woodleigh 320 gr soft and solids.....snap it up and enjoy it. Also just buy lapua brass do not buggerize around necking 30/06 brass up.

Went to RSA in the last week of May. Took a CZ 550 American in 9.3x62 fitted with a 2.5-8 Leupold VX-111. My buddy took a Santa Barbara Mauser he'd built in 9.3x62. The PH was very pleased that we had not brought "pee shooters" for the kind of terrain we hunted.

I took Impala, Warthog, Blue Wildebeast and Zebra with one shot each. All pass throughs. I also took a Kudu who had not read about the proper aiming point for Kudu. That one took several rounds, but again no recovered 286 grain Nosler Partition bullets.

I got my rifle from a posting in the Classified thread on this site. The previous owner aint gettin' this one back!!!

You'll be delighted with the 9.3x62 in the CZ ... accurate, mild recoil, and very effective on game. The rifle is handy and easy to carry around.

crazyjjk,

Here's an article on the 9.3x62 that you might enjoy:

Also, Graf's has 9.3x62 brass at a good price. (Graf brand.) Plus, Graf's has Prvi Partizan 285gr bullets cheap! Should make good bullets for practice.

FWIW, I recently sold my .338-06 (Weatherby) and .35 Whelen (Ruger M77) and purchased a CZ 550 American in 9.3x62.

I just returned from a buffalo/plains hunt in Zimbabwe. Prior to the hunt I went thru my "I need a 338WM for plains game" phase. Several I tried kicked like rented mules.Got a CZ550 in 9.3x62. Mild on the shoulder, very accurate, incredibly effective on plains game with Barnes X's and solids. Eland, kudu, zebra, wildebeast killed with no fuss and klipspringer, impala, and steenbok killed with minimal meat/cape damage. You will be very pleased if you get one.
