I bought a new 6.5x55 featherwieght a couple years ago and it is a nice rifle. Maybe you just got delt a crap one that they trying to unload on someone. Id raise hell , and make them do the paper work on a new serial number and get another rifle. I bet they will try and tell you that you have to keep that one because they already did the transfer with that serial number. Id be pissed off They figure that you paid with out seeing what you get so they are trying to unload a pile of crap on you to get rid of it. I just looked at and handle a new LT at the gun shop yesturday just to check out the workmanship and look for flaws and junk machine work etc.

DOn't sweat it...In my experience Winchester has one of the best customer service departments in the business. I had a feeding problem with a Model 70 in 300 WSM two years ago and they fixed it and got it back to me in less than 10 days door to door and even sent me a check for the postage to the factory. Its a $500 rifle, and in this day and age that amount of money, sadly, will no longer buy perfection. Truth be told, even Jack O'Conner wrote about improving the standard M70 rifles that rolled out of the factory back in the 30s-50s. The good old days were good but they weren't THAT good. If my experience is any indication, Winchester will take care of you and they'll do it quickly. Shouldn't have gone out the door in the first place and all that jazz. But in your business/occupation when was the last time you had a flawless performance? Guns are made by humans and corporations...humans are fallable and corporations have profit margins. Keep us posted on what they do.

Isn't Blaser the company that recently recalled a bunch of rifles for a series of catastrophic receiver failures? No...that's not right. That was the first Blaser recall in the 1990s... Its the Blaser safety recall from last year I was remembering...http://www.sigarms.com/recall/index.shtml
