Got a new Icon in 30TC this weekend. I know, I have no idea why they make a 30TC when there is a 308 win. 30TC OAL is shorter, has less body taper, and sharper shoulder angle. Neck is same length. Water capacity filled to top is 55.7 for the 308win, and 55.4 for the 30tc in once fired brass. I guess a 30TC is just a high energy 308win load with a slightly less OAL. Actually its a good useful load, although seemingly redundant.

The Ivon is 8 1/4 lbs ready to go. The barrel is not a heavy weight taper. call it medium to light. The weight is between the hands where I like it. (I know some prefer barrel heavy feel, not me.) The machining, deburring, and finish is truely excellent. Best I've seen on a new gun in a long time. Barrel is like black glass. Reciever matte black. Walnut stock has a little figure, good checkering, is well fit and barrel is floated in the center of the channel.

Trigger was factory set at 3 lbs and crisp. Bolt lift is a little stiff, but works smooth. Magazine is plastic, holds 3 rounds, in line. Feeds slick.

I only shot one box of ammo, 165 gr., groups .7-.8 inch consistantly right out of the box. Put a leupold VIII 2.5-8 on and stock is well designed for scope use. Recoil as you would expect on a solid rig like this was very mild.

Could it be lighter, yes but because the weight is well centered it really doesn't feel heavy while shooting. I am looking forward to shooting it more, and hunting next year.

Picked one up at the Dallas show this week and I liked it but I think a big magnum should weigh that much. Rep did say we could expect a LH model down the road. Real smooth action.

I have some 300 sav, I'll compare after work tonight. I don't have any way to weight the water volume of the AI. But can compare to regular 300 sav.

Sharpshooter, Compared to the 300 savage, the TC has a bigger recess for the extractor. The shoulder on the 300Sav is farther forward, but the neck on the 300sav is so short that it is shorter OAL. I think the longer neck on the TC is a good Idea.
