These 710's are pure JUNK!!!!!!!!!!! Save your money, for the same price Savage is the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!! Just ask around and you will hear many more bad comments about the 710.

Terry, the 710 is Remington's attempt to go for the bottom section of the rifle market. They did it by using more plastic, and by press-fitting the barrel into the receiver, and locking the bolt into the barrel. Not a bad design, but it does turn the rifle into a "consumable". What you buy is what you get, no real ability to upgrade. Resale is horrible, right now. There are better choices, including the Walmart Winchesters and Remingtons, and the Savage. The Savage will likely be the most accurate. HTH, Dutch.

While I am not a huge Savage fan, I would definitely get one of them before that piece of %#*& 710.

Went to the range the other day a there sat a guy at the bench shooting a 710 in 270. He was so pleased with the firearm - and the groups he shot were just fine - he took turns between firing his 223 M700 and 710 to keep the barrels cool. Now he may shoot out that barrel - if he does - he will become a true gun guru and desire something more worthy of his knowledge and skill - but in the meantime he smiles - and tells me how is wife wants him to take up hunting and bring home some venison. Who was I to ruin his day.

You can get a Remington 700 for just a few dollars more-about $359 for the ADL Synthetic-and be much better off. The Savage and the Howa 1500 are both better choices also for an inexpensive rifle than the 710, in my humble opinion. Good Hunting, Bob

Thanks for the input guys, I thought I read something about these a while back. I don't really keep up with the "new" guns, I'd rather shoot the ones I already own. I think my son-in law just wants to get his first bolt gun and he probably saw the 710 at wally world. It would probably do fine for him, he'll sight it in and shoot it 5 shots or so before season each year. So wearing a rifle out won't be a problem for him. He hunts from the same rock every year and usually fires one shot and the season is over for him.

I talked the son-in-law into buying the Savage 110 package in .270. Looks like a keeper, out of the box it shot a nice group, 1.5" left of point of aim, pretty good bore sighting from the factory. Thanks, for the input.
