I am shooting a 7mm rem mag with Barnes 140gr ttsx with 66.5gr of imr 7828. Just curious to know if anyone uses a similar load to this. This load shoots around 3/4" 3 shot groups. Reason I am asking is that I am going to buy what I would consider a lifetime supply of these bullets and powder next weekend from a local distributor, anyone see any downsides from this load or purchase. I was told by a reputible supplier that powder and components are going to disappear very quickly because of obamanitor and the government.

The only load that I shoot in my 7mm Rem Mag is the 140 grain TSX using 66 grains of H4831sc.

Your reputable supplier is an alarmist, in my humble opinion.

I would agree that your "reputable supplier" is yanking your chain. But he's just probably gullible enough to be having his chain yanked by someone higher on the food chain.

I am .3 gr less.

If its not going to take any food from your children's mouth, buy the components.

None here have a crystal ball. Fewer have seen the price of components, from reputable sources, decrease. Yes, there has been a bunch of panic buying. Yes there has been a bunch of people making money off scared consumers. I hope that some of the people that paid $80 a pound for Varget put it in a glass case and place it on their mantle. A gentle reminder of foolish panic buying.

If you can get a good price, buy it. Magnum primers, too.

I am beginning to wonder if he didn't tell me some things to make me buy supplies from him. But I will go ahead and buy a few pounds of powder and bullets just to be in the clear. I agree will agree with what everyone on here says because there has been alot of panic buying, I believe that's why things are like they are.

The price of copper and powder isn't likely to drop too much and if the Barnes shoot well in your rifle it is nice to know you won't run out- lifetime might not be necessary but you may save money in the long run.

I don't think there's much danger of components being made illegal, unless you have the misfortune of living in NY or CA. But prices on powder and bullets aren't going anywhere but up. If you've got the storage space, by all means stock up.

Will we are on this discussion, what would everyone consider to be adequate storage for powder for long term, also can powder go bad? I am thinking of buying another gun safe just to store my reloading components in with a humidifier inside. Any thoughts, suggestions?

I learned that if your find a bullet, casing, primer and powder you rifle likes. Buying enough to last a long time is a good idea.

Manufactures tend to change things and go out of business leaving you searching for something else.

Even more so if is a some what odd item.

P-dog has a good point. It sucks to find something that works and then it's discontinued. That said, I have lots of bullets I stocked up on, then replaced with a better product. Now they take up space and get loaded as foulers, a lifetime supply of foulers.

I think its hard to go wrong with the TTSX, I get good accuracy and very minimal meat damage from the 7mm, I like using this on deer because all that I have shot have been DRT. The Barnes seems to do everything I ask for. Yeah I know you can kill deer with most any bullet, but I have shot gamekings, ballistic tips, sst, but never heard any bad results from anyone who uses barnes and from my experience in the past they perform everytime. I have heard lots of bad experiences with ballistic tips, myself personally have never had one other than lots of excessive meat damage, but always DRT results mostly.

I am not very picky about what I shoot. I am not always looking for some thing better. I see no reason to change if some thing gets the job done. Plus I am very glad I have thousands of bullets I brought in bulk at todays prices.

A 165gr rem corlok well work well in all most every .308 cal cartridge out there And a lot better then nothing.
