Mostly good. I own both the 7 and the 300 and while the 300 hits hard, the 7 is fast. Yeah, it burns too much powder but it doesn't kick that much; somewhat less than the 300. If a good accurate load carrying a 150 gr partition downrange at 3400-3500 fps to do your dirty work is your idea of a great cartridge, the 7 rum is for you. Just keep the barrel cool.

I think Sako has discontinued this chambering, and the remaining stocks are being "fire saled". SCI bought (at least) 50 of them for a membership promotion.

I would think about a .404 Jeffery or Dakota conversion.

I own two 7mmstw's,two 300ultramags and a 7mmultramag.The ultramag case works very well with .308" bullets but only adds 50fps to 75fps more than the stw with 7mmbullets despite burning a lot more powder.That being said I prefer the 7mmstw over the 7mmultramag but I do like the 300ultramag.
