My 7mm Rem. is a hunting rifle, so I look at both accuracy and performance on game. My favorite all-around game bullet is the 160 gr. Nosler partition. It is quite accurate (consistently 1" or less from a standard Rem. 700) and has always worked well on deer, elk, and antelope. The 162 gr. Hornady BTSP is slightly more accurate and works well on antelope. I have not used it on larger critters as I am not sure how it will hold together. I use H-1000 powder, Win. brass, and Fed. 215 primers with both bullets.
I found a load for mine that seems to be shooting incredibly well for me. It's using the Barnes XLC in 160gr. but I'm at work and don't want to give wrong data so won't quote it.
Nosler use to make a 162gr. Solid Base. I used it for quite a few years. It was the most accurate of all the 160's that I had used in my 7mm. Nosler quit making them in the early 90's but I still have about 2 boxes of them left which should last me for quite a while.
I've shot an awful lot of game up to elk and kudu with the Hornady 162 gr BTSP. I don't remember having to hit any of them twice. My most accurate load so far is 59.8 gr of IMR 4831 and a Fed 215 primer. The bullet is seated to just clear the lands. This load will shoot into a half inch group at 100 yards in my rifle if I do my part.
I've also had good luck with Noslers and Barnes, but the Hornady's group better in my rig.

I have seen a lot of elk killed with the 160 Noslers, and 175 gr. Hornadys..the shot good in the rifles mentioned and killed well...
I have noticed that if I hunted in the dark timber of Idaho, that I would prefer the 175 gr. Nosler as you will have to stick them up the bulls keyster because that is the only shot you will get as a rule and that is the best bullet for the job...I have seen the 160 Nosler perform well on elk with this shot but I still like the idea or a 175 gr. bullet in a 7 mag...
I also feel the same about the 7x57...A 175 gr. Nosler hand loaded at 2500 to 2600 FPS will shoot through and elk lengthwise....

Both the HDY 162 SPBTIL and the 160 Sierra SPBT have shot under an inch for me. I have had great on game results w/ the 162 HDYs but, I haven't shot any game w/ the 160 Sierras.
Good Luck!

I also give my endorsement to the 162 grain Hornady BTSP. Iy has given very good results in accuracy and on game out of my 7mm-08. For the price you pay they are the best deal going!

My 7mm Rem. Mag. gets its best accuracy from a Sierra 168gr. HPBT Match, but that's not really a hunting bullet. For field use with a 160gr. PSP bullet I prefer the Speer. It's acurate enough and hits very hard. Best wishes.
My 7mm Rem and 7mm STW like the 160 grain bullets best with the North Fork first, Barnes XLC and Nosler Partition following at a distance. Good luck and good shooting.

Hornadys 162gr Sp will do just about anything on big game you want and is very accurate. I've have had excellent result's with GOOD old H4831-68.4gr Max.3020 av.fps 1in and under groups and 66.3 2900fps Hornadys Vol#2- And have loaded Imr7828 and H1000 all with in 1in groups for other's all loads with Fed-215 primers. Unless you was going to try a big bear a Nos-P or a Trophy Bonded BC,,Swift A Frame
I've had excelent accuracy with Sierra, Nosler, and Remington PSPCL 175-grain bullets in the 7 Mag. Also had excellent accuracy performance with the 160 Nosler Partition. I'd also suggest that you try the new Nosler 160 Accubonds - the accuracy of a BT and the performance of the Partition! < !--color-->
i have used the 160gr.throphy bonded bear claw bullets at all my hunts the last two year, mostly deer but also other game,it gives nice accuracy in my sako 75 and the bullet are so strong that it gives good penetration in all situasion you can meet in an hunt.the best result at the shootingrange i`´ve had with the sierra match king 150gr.which has given outstanding accuracy(but it is not an hunting bullet) i load with 68gr.norma-mrp powder.rem.mag-primer and norma brass when i use the sierra 150gr.
