Will a 36" Dewey cleaning rod leave sufficient exit length for a 24" barrel and a Stoney Point bore guide? The next longest length I can find is 44" which would seem to be about 6" more than necessary. Also, the coated Dewey's come with a brass adapter for 8/32 which it seems is the standard for all brushes, mops and jags. Wouldn't copper solvents erode it? Or is stainless the way to go? Dewey SS rods are 8/32 solving the brass adapter issue. Thanks!
Anotehr vote for the Bore Tech over the Dewey. I have both - no flies on the Dewey but the Bore Tech is even better. It has a nicer handle and the ball bearings seem to let the rod spin with less effort.
Unless you have a storage or transportation issue with the longer rod I'd recommend the long version. The short one will probably be long enough, but there's a good chance you'll be banging your knuckles on the scope or the bore guide. I have a long Dewey, which in my WinMag pokes out the BOSS when the handle is about 1" from the butt of the stock. It makes a nice auto stop.
