Had a nice day for shooting this morning and shot My 2 Kimber 8400's at 200yds. With the 7WSM I was shooting Factory Federal 160gr Accubonds. Velocities were a little lower this time. I attribute it to a different Chronograph, lower temperatures, and the ammo was in the shade and not heated up out in the sun. Still shot right at the factory advertised 3120..... The 270 WSM liked a Handload consisting of a 140gr Accubond and 66.0grs of RL-22. Average velocity was about 3237fps. Accubonds are becoming my favorite bullets. They have shot extremely well in almost every rifle I've tried them in. Terminal Performance was excellent on the 6x6 Elk I shot last year. As you might have guessed I'm also pretty exited about the Kimber 8400's. Not only do they fit me well and look nice they have been shooting very well for such light rifles. Now if they would just get the 8400 Montana's out.........DJ

djpaintles, Very nice groups for 200yds. I have a A-Bolt in 7WSM and I had a good load with the 160grn Accubond and 66.0grns RL-22 with a Fed. 215 primer for 3018fps average with a extreme spread of 5.1 for four shots. Didn't look right with that long bullet haveing to go so far into the case to get it to work in my magazine though. Mine will work with a OAL of 2.860-62". BM Bill

GSP7, My 270WSM has a 4-12 Swaro AV with the TDS-4 Retical, the 7WSM has a 3-10 Swaro AV with the TDS Plex, and my Steyr Scout has a 2-7 Kahles with TDS Plex (see group under "is 308 a waste of time". I finally got the wind to be steady for a few minutes. I had 3 groups that day with the steyr less than 1" at 200yds - but the windage was 2 1/2 inches different!........DJ

DJ, My new Kimber 84M Montana is just about a perfect rifle. This means that it does not have any defect that cannot be fixed with a screwdriver. I cannot say this about many of the other guns that have come and gone over the last few years. Mine is a 243 Win. I bought it as I was enjoying varmint hunting with the new Kimber 84M Classic that I got in 260 Rem and an impulse hit me that I wanted a "Montana" version for fun. I chose the 243 as I am always concerned about ricochets. That must be why I have never had a problem with a richocet. There is not much to say about the rifle. Sometimes it shoots a two or three shot group into one hole at 100 yds. Other times the group is 5/8". The groups did open up some and I found that one of the opposing screws had come loose on the Redfield type rear factory mount base. This barrel seems to shoot as well hot as cold. My other Kimbers won't do that and are at best sub MOA rifles only up to two or three shots. This rifle also has the new three position safety. I may drive the others down to Kimber today or tommorrow and leave them to have their two position safeties changed to the new type. I adjusted the trigger on this one down to 1.5 lbs as it's so light. I am going to have to give up coffee to hold it steady otherwise. The trigger passed my drop and bolt slamming tests with the very light pull. I checked the headspace with my gages and it's right on the minimum. It's shooting the 55 gr Nosler and 58 gr Hornady about the same so I must choose one or the other for the reduced load so as to tell them apart. About 15 grs of SR 4759 will do it. The COL for this chamber is 2.6". It lays them in there. I have an old Vari-X 11 4X12 AO on it. It's a good scope for fine daylight shooting with the magnification and parallax adjustments. I have some new scopes on order as the optics in this one are obsolete. Someone could spend thousands on a gun and I cannot see for the life of me how they could get a better made one.
