Amen to that. I have a pre 64 M70 featherweight in 308 and we shoots great, no sensational, for 40+ years old. Below is a target We shot a week ago with 150 gr Nosler solid base (HPBT). I have a pre 64 M70 fwt in 270 coming in from the US when the State Dept clears the paperwork. Magnum308

I have 5 model 70, 2 Are pre64Featherweights and 3 are modern classics. While I hae to admit they are not all tack drivers none is inaccurate, and 1 (a classic in 7mmSTW is spectacular) The model 70 is my favorite action and I am hoping to find a good deal on another pre64 im the next few weeks but I must say, themoder CZ i have is at least as good and probably quite abit less expensive...tj3006

My most accurate .375 H&H, maker Karl Guenther on a pre 64 Winchester 1953 action and barrel, shoots all day long clovers at 100 Yards and beyond with 260 grain Accubonds .50 and better, extremely accurate Love it. Roland

Currently down to four Mod. 70's; two 30-06 pre-64 target rifles, one 30-06 pre-64 hunting rifle and one post 64 300 WM. All of the '06s were sub moa; then there was the 300WM. It is finally an honest moa (5 shot groups)rifle, but took a lot of TLC to get it there. The target rifles are a dream to shoot, the group below is actually 15 shots since the spotter was in a bullet hole when the first shot struck the spotter.......fired from prone position w/iron sights at 600 yards. One of the target rifles has over 15,000 rounds through the action and the other has over 7000 rounds through it without any part changes other than barrels. Guess the reason I shoot mod. 70's is they work! Regards, hm

My old pre 64 M-70 that I bought in about 1950 I guess, then stocked in when in highschool, has been shot Lord knows how many times and has been drug through the heat of Africa and the cold of lots of places, in swamps, in the desert and it shows that wear, no blue, stock like drift wood, but it still shoots 1/2 3 shot groups with about any bullet and 1 inch for 5 shots and shoots everything to the same POI, guess the wood cured pretty well over the years because it never moves POI.. Yeah I like Model 70s, and mostly pre 64s....They have all shot well for me, and I have owned a few of them over the years.
