Maybe you do! However, I now belong to a club in Waynesboro, PA that has 200 yards for HP rifle, etc. Their range is also "honor system". There is no supervison, and just one rule: everyone must wear an orange hat or vest when one is forward of the firing line. So far, in nearly three years of shooting there I have seen no violations of safety rules, or anyone acting in an unusual manner. We have some folks who shoot a lot of steel-cased 7.62X39mm, who seem to leave their empties all over. But none of these people have ever been at the range when I was there. So far, whenever I've been there, all shooters have been at least polite, and everyoine was more than willing to cease fire and open bolts, etc., to let newly arrived people go down-range to hang targets, etc.

I don't HATE people with high-capacity magazines! But I do wish they'd clean up their empties. And this also applies to the .17 HMR and .22 RF shooters who also seem to like to let their brass lie around.

I realize I'm spoiled! For the twenty years or so before I moved here, I had my own range in my pasture. That really is habit-forming!!

this conversation is quite an amazement to me. i have belonged to the Tulsa Red Castle Gun Club here in Tulsa since 1977. i'm sure some things have occurred there that were probably not the wisest thing to do. but i can't remember anything happening that would cause me to launch into this cricifixion of a guy who made a mistake or to hate people because they like high capacity magazines.

as long as i have been in my club, coming up on 28 years, I have not heard of a single shooting related mishap. my club has around 1500 members and NO RANGE SUPERVISION OF ANY TYPE. we have one firing line where the rule is "any weapon, any target". i have personally been there when shooters have been using M-16s (not AR-15s), fully automatic AK-47s, and periodically an M-60 machine gun. in 5 minutes there is more ammunition sent down range than most of us see in several years of shooting. with all this going on as well as shooting on several of the other 6 or so firing lines.....not a single shooting related mishap. and all this with NO RANGE SUPERVISION. tolerance is the key. most people don't accuse Oklahomans of havin too much on the ball, but it looks like we have the rest of the country beat on this one.
