Pondering buying a new rifle. Something really accurate, was looking for some input on which one of these two would be the best bet. I like the looks of the remmy better and have heard they are good shooters, on the other hand I have heard savage makes a real accurate rifle. So come on guys tell me what you think or better yet what you have experienced.Sendero would be a 7mm rem. and savage would be a 270 wsm

for a hunting rifle I'd have the Remington. For strictly a varmint gun the Savage will do fine.

Simple solution, buy one of each!

They ain't the best looking rifles, but I really do like what Savage makes. Plus have you felt that new Accutrigger? You're gonna love that thing if you haven't!
The Remington Sendero is a wonderful rifle as well, and they look outstanding. As well, there's tons of aftermarket parts to customize it to your like, which Savage has a little less than.

It'll be a hunting rifle I have a good "carry " gun for those really long trecks but am looking for a real shooter. A real longe range tackdriver that i can hunt with when i know i won't be traveling far. This will be a rifle that won't get far from the jeep. Has to shoot below MOA thats why I'm looking at these two.

I have the Remington Sendero in 7mm RUM and it is one of, if not the most accurate rifle i own. I don't really have a lot of distance to play with at the local range, but i would feel comfortable taking a 500 yard shot with it. like i said, i'm not the most experienced distance shooter, someone who knows what they're doing might be able to throw a bullet a thousand yards accuartely with it.

The Sendero will have a much higher resale if you decide to get rid of it down the road.

The Sendero also has a much better stock, the HS Precision w/ full bed block.

I have several Savage Rifles and they shoot pretty good but nothing like my 700s, not even close.

I personally don't care for the Accu-trigger.

The Remington trigger is easy to adjust.

Both good rifles but the Savage is not even in the same league as a Remington IMO.

Good Luck

Well lets see

Sendro MSRP $1128
Savage FVSS MSRP $691 39% cheaper.
The Remington sure better have better resale!

Both are bedded.

I'll agree on the trigger but a Rifle Basics on the savage costs $125. Now Savage in my opinion has a slight advantage in the trigger department. The Savage is still 28% cheaper.

If you don't think at this point the Savage is in your league I hope the next time you go to the range someone with a Savage sits down next to you and humbles you. Because it's all about accuracy when your shooting or hunting. That good looking Sendro isn't going to bring home any more meat than a Savage will. In all likelyhood the Savage will shoot as well or better. Get yourself around that barrel nut.

Now for the clincher I own quite a few Remingtons but I now own some Savages and they are shooters. Good looking guns mean squat to me. Good shooting guns impress me. When I go to the range with my Savages I always look for a bench next to a "Remy man". That's when the fun begins.

Oh you better get rid of those lowly Savages.

Go on over to www.savageshooters.com and read a bit. Those guys over there are a bit prejudiced towards Savages, but they are largely correct.

I just bought a Savage in SS W/Fluted barrel and muzzle brake in 338, yesterday I shot a 10 shot 1.5" group at 100 yards over the chrony without really trying for any accuracy, I was testing different powders and primers using 225gr Hornady bullets, I did not really know I had a group going until I pulled the target.

Screw this looks crap if I want something to look good I'll buy a picture to hang on the wall next to that good looking Rem.

the sendero SF is far less than $1128, as a MOF it can be had for some $900 at a high mark-up. The savage is less, and will always sell for less. The rem700 action is always in demand, not so much for the savage, While I see a lot of savages in the factory class matches, it doesn't show up on customs on the line, but the rem is always a staple on that same line.

Buy the rem700, never a bad investment.

Roll EyesI am a resent Savage, Stevens convert.Predjudiced? Ya. The Stevens is a great walk about but the trigger is rough. The Savage is a little more pricy but that accutrigger, that some don't like, works greeaat for me.The only Remington's I've owned were OK but not near what I,m getting out of Savage. I think either choice will get the job done, however. lolroger

Well guys got to fess up, went and looked at rifles today. Looked at 2 senderos 300 saum and 300 win. mag. Also they had a heavy barrel savage fv I think. Then out of nowhere I saw it, standing there alone. It was love at first sight. I turned away from the senderos and walked straight up to it and ran my hands up and down it. jumping It was a remington cdl in 35 whelen. Anyway when I go back for another rifle it'll be a sendero they are just sexier and from what i hear plenty accurate. Can't wait to shoot the whelen.

Ha Ha

I just bought a Sendero NIB for $650 a few months back and she's a shooter for sure.

If you are comparing Savage's chezy pillars in their Flemzy stocks to an HS Precision w/ a Full Length Bed Block, you need to sober up.

I'll say it again, I have 3 Savage rifles and none can hold a candle next to my Remington 700s in any department. The 700s I own will flat out shoot the Savages I own hands down.

I'm not saying the Savages don't shoot well, they just don't shoot near as well as Remington 700s for me and I've run quite a few different loads through them.

The fact is that the Savage rifles are cheap. They are built cheap and provide the average hunter w/ a dependable and accurate set-up for the price he can afford. They are a good rifle for the money but, they are not even in the same ball park as a Remington 700 or Win 70.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Savage if I wanted a cheap gun for a certain purpose but, I will not even begin to expect it to be as nice as a Remington 700.

The resale is awful on a Savage, if you've tried to sell one lately you know what I mean. It's best to buy one and intend on keeping it. If it doesn't shoot, you can buy a cheap barrel off of ebay, screw it on, and try again.

As far as humbling, I'll take my bone stock 700P, 700 Sendero, and XR100 to the range any day of the week and compare them to any stock Savage on the Market.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I have some cheap 700s in the same price range as the Savages as well, they are ADLs. They cost about the same as the Savage rifles but, yet shoot far better than any Savage I've shot or seen shot at the range. One of those ADLs shoots less than 1/2" at 100 and it's a 7RM. Wish I could say that about my similarly priced Savages.

I bought those Savage rifles for a purpose (w/ the exception of one in 300WSM that I've only hunted w/ once). That purpose was to have a cheap rifle that could be drug through the elements being bumped and scratched and still get the job done. For that purpose they've done well and I've taken many game animals w/ them. They still don't hold a candle to the 700s.

I don't look down on anyone who praises Savage, they are good rifles. If they are your personal preference, go for it but, don't say they are better than the more expensive brands, simply not true.

Have a Good One
