Well I have launched into my BRNO ZKK 600 project and I want to thank Ray and particularly ALF for all the information. It has been a lot of help for hard to track down information.

I had in my mind a Krieger barrel for this project, but I have been reading some posts and got to looking at Lothar Walther barrels. Called them today actually, and besides attractive pricing, I liked what I heard. So my mind is not made up and discussing this with my smith he is suggesting for a hunting rifle I use the Walther barrel. I am in fact working on another custom rifle and these two rifles are really about as different as can be. The other gun is going to be a 6.5x284 and I have pretty much settled on a 28" barrel. My smith says I should use the Krieger tube on that rifle, and stainless tube to delay barrel shoot out is what I have in mind.

So here comes the question, what are your opinions? Using the presumption that this will be a 7x57 (280 distant maybe), trued and built correctly what kind of groups with custom reloads could I expect with the Walther barrel. I want .5 MOA and would settle for .65-.75 MOA, is that a reasonable expectation?

One last thought is I would like to do a Mannlicher stock, but concerns are that I won't be able to use a heavy enough barrel contour for good accuracy.

Comments welcome.

Yes, I do mean that and yup I see the grip caps and forend.
While your answering and I haven't gotten mine yet, what kind of checkering is on those? Stamped or hand cut? Just curious.

I am afraid you got me hooked line and sinker on these BRNO's.

No I was refering to the to your posts in the the 21H thread. So answer is yes you have resocked them? I thought you had some originals also.

I know you have a lot of BRNO's your photos are the most I have ever seen in one place. How long have you been collecting them? Or are they easier to find in SA?

Alf,

Thanks again, you seem to have the answers. I had my doubts about getting a decent barrel contour into a mannlicher. From playing with accurate rifles multiple times in the past this had a lot of wrongs in concept. Trying to combine two guns into one has never really been a good idea.

It was a wish, and practicle is to just get another gun.

Any experience with the Walther barrels?
