I'll agree w/ Steve. I don't have a .270, never liked the caliber, all of my family hunt w/ one. My .280 loves this powder, especially under heavier bullets. I would think it would be thesame for 140-150gr bullets in your .270. Give it a try.

I'm shooting IMR-7828 behind the 140 gr. Accubonds in the the 270 Win. and like the field performance. Shoots well on papper and performs in cold weather.
My 270s shoot 130s and 140 well with faster powders like I4350 but both liked I7828 with 130 TSX, one so well I may never load anything else for that rifle. Avg accurate velocities for the two were not much faster at 3130s and 3150s.

Everyone has heard that Hodgdon bought out IMr. I recently read where some people are talking about a new "short grain" 7828. That might be real nice in cartridges that just didn't quite have the case room for this very nice powder. Then again Hodgdon doesn't make it's own powder--will they just hire someone to make this new 7828 and will it have the nice properties so many have come to love??

IMR 7828 is very close in speed (just a "tad" slower) to the original surplus 4831. This original 4831 is the powder that "made" the .270, so I would expect IMR 7828 to work well in it, also. If I didn't have a tubfull of old 4831, I'd be trying 7828 as a substitute.
