Does it shoot? I would imagine so......and what powders does it like?

Cheers guys......

Can't comment on the SAUM, but I sure miss my wsm. I dont think there is really too much difference between the two honestly, the SAUM juuust lagging behind in powder capacity and performance.

Don't be fooled by marketing hype though, the "reduced recoil perception" is a bunch of hooey lol maybe in equal weight rifles, but the shorties are always on smaller and lighter rifles, which makes the reduced recoil a moot point.

If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

Blair,
You feeling tempted as well by the cheap prices on the Remington rifles in SAUM chamberings?

Con,

No, not at all.

I like the full length version. And I wanted something between that and a 30-06.

If I do go ahead(Robert Tobler has the JGS reamer); then I'll make sure I have enough brass Big Grin

Blair,
I'm wary of how well the WSM and RSAUM feed in actions not designed for them. Are you planning on taking a short action and modifying to it ... or an existing RSAUM and rebarreling/chambering with match-grade components?
Cheers...

I have very good luck with varget,60 gr. and 150 Hornady Interbonds. This load does 3100fps from a 22" Model 7 barrel and groups less than 1". For 180's I have been loading 61 gr. Ramshot Hunter. With the 180 Nosler partition I get about 1.2" groups, a little better with Rem Core-Loct's.. It is just a nice shooting easy to carry rifle..

I have yet to reload for mine but the 180 grain factory Remington load shoots about a 3/4" 5 shot group out of my 700 BDL so has been very accurate. The Nosler load was good but not as accurate as the Rem load.

I load for 2, my brother's and Norm, the guy who's bear hunted with me quite a bit now.

In fact, Norm's rifle is due back anytime from the smith after getting it worked over and having a Lilja installed.

The 300 SAUM shoots very very well. So much so, I'm thinking of a build myself.

H4895, H4350, H4831, Re19, Re22, IMR4350, 4831, Ramshot Magnum, VV N165 all work very well.

The rifle kicks like a 30.06 with 200 grain bullets on average but it is extremely easy to load for.

Good luck if you do it. If I do, it will be in roughly 6 mos.

Con,

Thanks for your concern mate, the action is a 700BDL SA from a 7mmSAUM.......so it should be fine.
