popcornSaw and handled the Rem.( Baikal) Mod. SPR18 Single shot for the first time. This one I'm sure was a selected show rifle as it had beautiful wood and deep cut checkering, contrary to what is shown in the catalog.

The Chrome lined spiral forged barrel was attractive. This rifle was a 30-06 and felt when lifted to the shoulder that it might just push you back a little. They are also chambered in .223,.243, .270, .308 and 7.62 X 39. The trigger was deactivated so no info there.

The suggested List Price of $279.00 I found alluring ,and just may order it in .223. The 11 mm. scope rail, however, seems a bit puny.

Does anyone have one of these and if so ,how do they perform ( trigger, accuracy, scope mounting, recoil, etc.? fishingroger

i used to have a Baikal Izh 18 .222Rem(the same as SPR18) but for all i know Remington may have done some changes on the rifle:

let's skip the obvious, such as apparance, woodgrade etc.

*the trigger was horrible, my shotgun had a better trigger(also a Baikal)
* the accuracy was great, 3shots factory loaded Norma within 16 or 18mm at 100m (ca 0.5-0.8 MOA)
*the receiver is grooved for scope mounts, just as rimfire rifles usually are.
*and i just dont like to have the safety in the trigger guard.

if they had made it 0.75lb lighter and 2" shorter barrel, i would still have one.

i'm sorry but i cant answer you about the trigger.

i have heard about somebody who had a gunsmith to fix the trigger, it was better but not good.
whether it was the smith or the gun's fault, i don't know.
