I have owned and hunted with a 26in. bbl 300 Wby for a long time and taken quite a bit of game with it. I am an advocate of the 26in. bbl. but recently I came into possesion of a great sythetic stock for a Vanguard. So.... I will be purchasing a Vanguard in 300 Wby. to put in it. Can anyone with experience give me some real numbers on FPS and their loads with 165, 180 and 200 grain bullets. My personal load for my 26in rifle is: 85 grains of IMR-7828 behing a Nosler 180 grain Partition for an honest 3200+ FPS. Thanks in advance.

I don't have my data with me here but with IMR7828 I get 3160 fps with a 180 and 3000 fps with 200. I am very happy with my vanguard 24" shoots great. My best group so far with was just over .500 Hope this helps Jason

You will loose from @30fps to a Max of 50fps per inch of barrel reduction. However some 24" barrels are faster than some 26" barrels... In the field, I have not seen any difference in 2" of barrel length. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

The loads that I posted in "300 Weatherby Magnum RELOAD INFO NEEDED" were from my Vanguard with a 24" barrel. NRA Endowment Life Member
