Does anyone know if they made any New Haven short action blue/wood rifles that had the classic stock and not the featherweight?

I'm almost certain they made a non FW compact model based on the .308 case in the new Haven days.

Looking at the 2005 catalog:

As mentioned, the Classic Compact is offered in 243 and 7-08.

The Classic Sporter (blue and wood) not offered in any short action cartridges except the WSM's.
