Some month or so ago, purchased subject rifle from TC1 and only today had the chance to take it to the range and test fire it. Cal. is '06 and very glad to report it is one fine rifle in all respects. Load was Sierra GK's, 165, and LC Match brass, 210M primers, and moderate load of 4064, seated to max. mag length. Griffen and Howe side mnt, Leupold 2.5UL and for five shot groups at 100yds, held just over 1moa from bags, 2-3moa off hand. Pretty much same performance at 200yds w/ bag or offhand. Very easy rifle to shoot and surprising of how little felt recoil there is based on the vintage style stock shape, dropped comb, very slim forearm, open grip area. Removed scope from base twice and no change of impact which is a good thing, good set up and can provide easy access to irons if needed. Action naturally smooth as silk, very positive feeding/extraction, not a set trigger but trigger as is very easy to shoot well with it. A classic rifle that looks good and shoots good is a true treasure and only regret is that I did not buy one much earlier in life. martin martin

MFD, Every Manlicher Schoenauer you handle will feel like that. They are elegant little rifles. Once you shoot one and hunt with it, it makes you wonder why we had to develop anything beyond that as far as rifles go.

Biebs, You said it all in far fewer words than I did and furthermore, you spelled the name correctly.(note: I went back and edited my spelling.) I can see why at one time they advertised these rifles as "the finest rifle in the world." Many years ago remember drooling over Stoeger's Shooters Bible and if I recall, they made one in 458Win.Mag. Fully engraved, carved high grade stock, now that would be a find!! Every gun rack should have at least one of these rifles.

MFD, I'm glad you are enjoying it. I really hated to let it go but there will be other fine rifles in my future. The metal work is a master piece and the wood to metal fit is flawless. It's the only M/S rifle I've owned but there will be more. I've owned and built a few custom rifles and nothing so far has surpassed the quality of that rifle. Properly cared for, guns like these will outlast mere mortals like ourselves. Enjoy it and take good care of it for the next owner Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Terry, As you well know, the photo does not do it justice and as for the next owner, that will happen when I cease to walk this earth upright and then it will go to someone designated. I am planning on an early Spring camping/trout fishing trip in the wilds of WV and the rifle will be slung across my back for that "comfort factor." Since the Feds now permit carrying of firearms in National Parks, Forrests, etc., that leaves me with a huge amount of pretty much wilderness area to visit. Fellow might run into one of those mountain lions that has been reported as inhabiting our more remote areas. Take care, martin

Beautiful! My old uncle has one, half-stocked, in 8x60S, and it is a real treasure. Would have cost a fortune to make today. Sometimes it is really rightful to say that they don't make'em like this anymore. Charlie's listening!
