I found a like new HS precision in 284 win and was wondering if it would be a good cartridge for long range (500yds) deer/antelope, I already have a 270 that shoots ok but not superb, and was thinking this gun is guaranteed to shoot 1/2 moa. I guess mostly I am wondering if this is a chambering worth owning.

yes it is. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winston Churchill

The .284 Win. is a great cartridge. It'll do pretty much whatever the .270 Win. or .280 Rem. will do at long-range, and on the same sort of big game animals. AD

Why do you say that? For shooting the light bullets, a SA would be fine.

I guess your right I really wouldn't load heavy bullets anyway, cause I would rather have the speed (and of course it wouldn't have to be my all purpose gun)
