Hell, back in the day we used to shoot them with a Lee Enfield .303 and the military sights that came with them. Mind you, my eyes were a lot better back then. Big Grin Big Grin

you probably dont need 1/2 groups but i rarely hunt with a rifle that wont at least shoot close to moa. It may be an overkill but i just have more confidence in the rifle if it does. Take a gun that shoots 2 inch at a 100 and have an animal come out at 300 and you now have a 6 inch gun. combine that with shooting in a field position that isnt rock steady and you may have a poor hit. Granted just because it shoots one inch doesnt guarantee anything but it sure does help. Bottom line for me anyway if 2 inch is the best a bolt gun will do after load developement it goes down the road. Lifes to short to hunt with inferior equiptment.

Do you "need" a car with a 400hp engine? Do you "need" a fishing boat that will do 70mph? Do you "need" a blonde with 42" tits? Perhaps no, but they do give you a warm, fuzzy feeling. Big Grin
If you follow a year around regimen of shooting, those 2" groups can get mighty trying.

I've given up on predicting 500 yard performers by looking at 100 yard targets.
