What do you think the Sierra Spitzer Boat Tail tip for the 300 Weatherby Magnum?, The weight of the bullet is 180 grains, the pieces as they would hunt wild boar and half the shooting distance and short. I think the bullet of choice for me is more suitable for long shots but I hope your advice and opinions Thank you very much. I am Spanish My forum:www.armaslargasdecaza.com

I think they'll work just fine. Political correctness offends me.

While the 180 grain Sierra Game King will work just fine in your 300 Wby Mag, I much prefer the 180 grain Pro Hunter which is a flat base bullet. My own personal 300 Wby Mag shoots the flat base version better than the boat tail. It just may be my gun in particular. I have shot a number of hogs with the 180 Prohunter and several deer and cototes, etc. It has always worked great for me. I load the 180 Prohunter for my step-son in Oregon and he and his family have killed several elk with them this year with great bullet performance. (using a 30-06) I would try both versions of the 180 Sierra in your rifle and shoot whichever is the most accurate in your gun. I doubt the game can tell the difference. R Flowers

Hello thank you very much for your response. I'll try different points in my rifle, to see which one works best in my Vanguard. I intend to prove I have also Nosler Partition with the same weight, because that bullet is the one I have recommended for all types of hunting. But it little by little, that the budget is limited and the patience of my wife more. I am Spanish My forum:www.armaslargasdecaza.com

I've shot quite a bit of game with a 300 Wby. and it has been my experience also that the flat base bullets are more accurate in my rifle than boattails. I am also a Nosler Partition fan in the Wby.

I agree that the Pro Hunter would be a better choice than the Gameking with the boattail. If you are interested in other brands you may want to consider the Hornady Interlock, and the Speer Deep Curl in standard bullets. They are priced comparably. Nate

I take note of your comments. For now I'll take what I have, and then I'll see if I buy another type of bullet for the 300 Weatherby. It is good to recharge ammo, you can compare different bullets for the same cartridge. Many thanks, I am Spanish My forum:www.armaslargasdecaza.com

Personally, I'd not use anything but a bonded bullet in that cartridge for hunting. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." On hogs it probably won't make much difference but at close range with my 300 H&H they tend to come apart sometimes and always are over expanded and have core seperation on hogs and deer, but they kill'm dead..I like a little tougher bullet in the .308 calibers than Sierra has to offer. The Hornaday Interlock, speer hot core and especially the Remington corelokt RN.
