Have opportunity to buy one of these at a favorable price and the rifle is new in the box and no BOSS system. Anyone have good or bad experience with these particular Brownings? I understand the trigger is not the best, but more interested in reliability, feeding, accuracy, handling, etc. All help appreciated.

PS Should have mentioned it is of latest series, not an older one.

In had one assembled in Portugal. Gave it my middle son.

Was a PITA to get set up. Rear sight mount had to have a shim under it in order to get the impact point within the adjustment range of a 2.5-8x Leupy.

The rifle would not shoot 225 gr bullets worth a toot. It really liked 250s ... especially Core-Lokts. Was accurate enough when I finally figured it all out ... abt 1 MOA.

Had beautiful wood on it! Could not bring myself to drag it into the WY mountains that way ... so I put B&C two piece synthetics on it and they worked fine.

I finally came to the conclusion that I liked bolt rifles better in that kind of caliber and found a lovely pre-64 M70 that had been redone with a Krieger cut-rifled barrel, NECG irons, and a McMillan stock. It shoots 225s and 250s nicely ... 2" at 300 yards.

Hello Mike,
Well, you certainly moved upward with the M70/Krieger barrel combo. Have used Krieger's for quite a while now and they have always been there when you need them! Intersting comment about the optics set up problems for I have heard that before and can't imagine Browning not sorting that issue out w/ the base suppliers or themselves??
I acquired a pristine H&R "Ultra Rifle" w/ Sako round top action and had quite a time finding bases for it and finally spoke w/ Warne and ended up using the rear base for the BAR to complete the base set up. Fellow at Warne was very helpfull and reviewed his prints/drawings until he came up with the suggestion to use that rear base and the radius is not pefect, but it works fine. Thanks for the feedback.
