I need another gun like a hole in the head but, I still go by the shops and feel around on a few every now and again. Stopped by Cabelas not long ago and came to a rack that had Sako, Weatherby, Remington, Win, etc, bolt rifles. Several of each. This is just one fella's opinion but, the Tikka T3 lite had the best feeling action of any in the bunch. Slick as glass, short bolt throw, and a descent feeling stock although it was cheap looking. Some of the best feeling actions I've felt in a while. I never would have thought they would have felt better than the Sakos or Weatherby MKVs but, they did.

I've heard they are pretty accurate as well. Seems like they would be a nice little rifle for a fella who didn't want to spend for the Sako or Weatherby. How do you fellas like the little T3 lites?

A 7-08 in the T3 lite topped w/ a 3-9 seems like it would make a dandy little carry rifle. Might have to pick one up.

Reloader,
I got the T3 Hunter, same rifle just different stock, in 25-06 last year and started to work up a load with the Accubond. It took very lttile time to fihure out that is was a great purchase on my part.
I had topped it with a Burris 3x9 Fullfield2 that I just swapped out for a Nikon Monarch 5.5x16.5. Can't wait to go out and sight it in!!!
As far as a smooth machine, it's the stuff in my opinion!!

PS A man ALWAYS need another firearm! Big Grin

Reloader , I have the T-3 light stainless syn. , in 300 Win . Mag . The only problem I have , is the magazine box is too short to seat the bullets out to where you want them .
( short mag.box & long throat )
I have not tried any factory loads so don't know how they would work .I did get it to group well , but only with the Nos. PPT. 180 gr. That is just fine , but has low b/c . I will have to accept that .Having said that , I wish I had bought the Rem. SPS in 300 mag.
Tom

Tom,

That's good to know, thanks for the info. I wonder about the SA. Any of you fellas had trouble w/ the SAs as far as Mag length?

Thanks,

I have never owned a tikka but I am aware that they only make long actions and the mag has a block for short action rounds.
I would not mind trying one with a wood stock , but I would go for a long action round. It rather anoys me when someone builds a long action rifle for a short action round.
Although I do have 2 or 3 such rifles and they preform well enough.

I have the T3 lite in 7mm-08 topped with a Weaver Grand Slam. It is an awsome gun. I also, had to seat bullets a little deeper do to the short magazine. Accuracy is very good. I have not shot any factory ammo from it. I think you will like it.

Buy a T3 light, however, there is little need for a 3-9x atop it, a 1.5-6 is about right.
I say this since I had a 3-9x on mine but have changed it to a Leupy 1.75-6x . In my hands the rifle is better balanced, is lighter and flies to the shoulder more readily.
The 7mm-08 is not a long range round, you might want to reconsider mounting a long range scope on it. If you have a 3-9x to hand then by all means use it, but it isn't realy needed.
Just my 2c.

I have a Tikka T3 Lite chambered in 300WSM and wouldn't trade it for hardly anything. The chamber was made so that the bullets cannot be seated longer than max cartridge length as set by SAAMI or else the bolt is hard to close on them. I have only loaded 165 Hornady SST's in it and the magazine box would accomodate a slightly longer cartridge.
