Congratulations. It sounds like a carbon copy of the one I got several years ago. It is really sweet.

I put a Redfield 2-7x33 Revolution on it and I love the combination.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Funny, I was just fondling a 99 in .303 yesterday, with straight grip and crescent butt. Decided I had better just set it back down and back away ...

I had one I had to repair the stock on that was broken threw the wrist. The repairs were hardly noticeable and they held up well under recoil since it was fairly well all accru glass filled.
It had the usual hunting scares but the .308 never impressed me except in M14 I carried and the M60. Someone wanted it more than I did so I sold it about 5yrs ago.

I was really tempted by a 300 Savage "Super Sporter" listed locally a couple weeks ago. But alas, I passed. Im pretty fond of the caliber. Loaded with 150 grainers it makes a fine deer round that is pure pleasure to shoot.

Almost 60 years ago a 99 came into my life in the box. A 300 Savage Featherweight[not sure if that is the same as an 99F]. Is still alive and recoiling. Have a old Weaver K4 post n crosshair scope on it. Great to have in dim light.
Put a bunch of deer in the truck with it. Tromped mountain in Montana with it twice. My favorite rifle to fall down a rock slide with. Not a scratch on it.
Now using a semi-hot handload with IMR 4320 pushing 150gr Hornadys. Some days it shoots pretty good. Other days its just not interested. :-)
Was the first rifle I ever bought. We have gotten old together. Looks better than I do. I call it THE ORIGINAL.

Back in the day (when I was a kid in the 1950s), I was given a Mod. 99 in .303 Savage by the widow of a man who claimed it was, on deer, the hammer of Thor. It had a buckhorn rear sight which was hard to use.

Alas, I sold it a couple of years after I obtained it . . . along with a Model 94 with an octagon barrel in .32-40 because . . . they weren't cool.

I will NEVER forgive myself.

I have the ugliest Savage 99 ever made. It's a 99E (Economy). No round counter, beech stock, impressed checkering, mismatched wood and chambered in 243.

I bought an unfinished, walnut buttstock for it but I haven't fitted it yet.
