Thanks Doug Humbarger! Doug put a barrel on a VZ-24 action for me. It is a fluted stainless steel .270 win takeoff barrel from a Kimber M98. He chambered it with a Clymer reamer. I just boresighted it today, and chronoed some loads. The barrel is 24", Federal factory 130gr premium with 130gr Sierra's went 3113fps, faster than I've seen in any gun before. Then I tried one of my favorite loads 59gr's of H-450 win case, CCI-250 primer, and a 130gr Nosler solid base, it went a smoking 3252fps!!!! Extraction was easy, primer did look like it was filling out the pocket pretty good, without being really flattened. I would call it a good practical max load in this rifle. I might get to the range tommorrow to check the accuracy.

Johan you sjould know better! That would be akin to Heresy. Ole Paul would roll in his grave! No I wouldn't do that to any of my Mausers; although I do try to please the customer. Maybe that barrel has a tapered bore like some of the German anti-tank guns did!

You of all should know how dangerous it's to do such criminal acts as stainless barrel on a mauser. I suggest you send the mausers to me soo nothing dangerous will happend to them. Maybe you will get a discount on a blaser if they feel sorry for your deds
