Just curious, would like to hear from people who have actually loaded for these and shot them, what is typically the most accurate bullet weight. so far i've had 3 rifles in recent history and everything i've fired was either with original military sights or the current one with an old Redfield banded ramp and Redfield peep. The only load i've used is Prvi 180 gr semi-spitzers and H4895. Those are the only bullets i've been able to come up with.

Seems everything shoots into about 2.5" at 100 yds and that's the best i can get out of them. The bores in all 3 have been very good. just wondering if i could expect better with another weight bullet.

I’m in the process of getting set up to load the 7.7 jap round.

One thing seems notable- they use a bigger bullet than most .30’s, and I’ve read that most are actually on the larger size of the .311-.312 bullets recommended.

If the factory stuff isn’t doing great, check bullet size and slug the bore.

That said, a 2MOA accuracy requirement probably met the design goals of the Arisaka, and that’s assuming you have decent optics or machine rest. I’d be happy with that grouping given my rifles sights and my ability with irons, especially military irons.

Of course, mine is a sample size of 1 rifle. I have read that the Japanese service round was around 180 gr., but I can’t find my reference, and all the bullets I’ve found for it are lighter ones for the .303.

Yeah, that's true about the bullet diameter. Already knew that and am loading the correct diameter. have not shot any factory ammo because there's none available. easily available. finding components is lucky.

175-180 would be correct.
I use the 312 diameter 174's from Hornady and they shoot just a bit better than 2"s from the sporterized rifle we got now.

I don't know how,, the barrel looks about trashed.
but it shoots jacketed, cast, and paper patched about the same.
