I don't visit here much but I'd be really interested in what loads have worked well with the 168 TSX in the 300 Win. Mag. I'm a died in the wool NP fan but this TSX is begining to interest me.

THX

Mark

I have loaded a lot of TSX's in 4 different 300 win mags and even though the are all different, they tend to like grain weights of between 74 to 76.

168 gr. best load was 75 gr IMR4831 for 3185 fps
180 gr. best load was 76 gr RL22 for 3117 fps
200 gr. best load was 74.5 gr RL22 for 3015 fps

3 of 4 of the guns like the 200 gr TSX best and the other one goes for the 180 gr. I have tried RL25 but didn't get quite as good accuracy. Did find a good load with H4831 and 200 gr TSX but it was slow.

If I had another 300 to try to find a load for I would start with the 200 gr TSX and 75 gr RL22 as the best possibility for immediate accuracy. Start about .025 off the lands.

My .300 WM shoots best with 78g of RL 22. According to the books this is a max charge and it is perfectly safe in my rifle. I get 3192 fps at 15'.

The best loads in my .300 Win Mag are: 168 grain TSX with 84 grains of H1000, and 180 grain TSX with 81 grains H1000. Winchester Large Rifle primers in each case.

Are the TSX barnes bullets the ones that don't fill your barrel full of copper like the X bullets?
I use IMR 4350 powder with my 300, 180gr bullets

Guys

Tried some RL 22 today with the 168 TSX. 79gr. showed a .60" group. Will chrono next time and shoot for average group size. This looks like it has potential. Wil be a nice compliment to my 200NP load.

THX
