Congratulations HtgAtty. I have a Winchester pre 64 M70 featherweight in 270 Win coming from the US (to Australia) as soon as State dept clears the redtape. I bought it of a listing on Guns America. From the serial number it was made in 1960. I will be loading for it when it arrives and plan to use 130 gr projectiles for general use here in Australia, small to medium deer (red, fallow, chital, etc) and pigs (boar) and 150gr projectiles for anything larger (especially Sambar deer, about the size of an Elk). Since both HtgAtty and jgnfld seem to be using the same sort of rifle as I will, would you mind sharing the loads that shoot well in your rifles? Of course, on the understanding that there is all care but no resonsibility. Also we have a limited range of powders here. It is mainly Oz stuff made by ADI (Australian defense Industry) but the same powder is shipped to the US and repackaged for Hogdgon, see the following link: http://www.adi-limited.com/handloaders-guide/equivalents.asp You might like to let me know what velocities you are getting as well. Bear in mind the fwt has a 22" barrel whereas the standard pre 64 M70 had a 24" barrel. Regards, Magnum | |||
