Thanks George, that is just what I needed to know. Interestingly, I assumed a 300 would be lighter than a 375 but now that you mention smaller bore I would expect it to be heavier.

Just weighed my 30-06 & 338 WM Sako AV the other day. The 30-06 has a wood stock. It weighs 7 lbs 7 1/8 oz. Stock weighs 2 lbs 4 oz. That puts the action/barrel at 5 lbs 3 1/8 oz. My Fiberclass model 338 weighs 7 lbs 9 3/4 oz. The stock weighs 2 lbs 2 3/8 oz, making the action/barrel 5 lbs 7 3/8 oz.
Gave me a new appreciation for them, even if the left hand rifle has the safety on the right hand side...
