I have an opportunity to buy a 1950 m22f in 7x57. Asking price is $2k. My concern is that it has a Jaegar side mount screwed and welded to the receiver, 3 screws and 2 pins like the G&H. I have not seen the rifle yet but I assume that this would kill any collection value and if I choose not to use the mount it would just be in the way.
It also sounds like the receiver and floor plate have been engraved. Maybe an after market fancier piece of wood too.

What are yalls thoughts on this?

I think that is well out of line with the current market. Check gun broker. There are 3 or 4 on there now. A very collectable early gun in almost new condition recently sold for around $1800. I think the person that bought it is a member here. Good luck with your search.

I’ve purchased a few Brno 21 and 22. Personally, I wouldn’t go near a rifle as you described.

I paid $999 for this rifle, caliber 6.5X57, two years ago and had the scope and G&H mount added. It is one of my favorites.

I have a 8x60 Brno M21 with high dollar custom mounts for TAlley QD, It had Claw mounts, had to have my smith slot and tig the dovetails and build a set of custom bases Looks like a square bridge. but at high costs.. its 95 % or better for $1395.

I have a real collector LR M22F Brno (really rare in LR) for $2400 in 8x57.

Ive paid up to $1400 for a nice Brno mod 21 or 22. and lately $16 to as much as $2000 depending on condition. A $2000 or more gun would be factory new and 100 percent original..

I would say yours is worth $1000 at best with holes in the "side"...Its been awhile since Ive seen one in any condition for less than that..

I used to buy them for $350. should have kept the all..HOpe this helps..They just get higher and higher.

Strangely enough they can be had in 90 plus condition in Canada for around $500 to $600. but hell to get out of there.
