Ruger Hawkeye77 or Standard77?

First off, I have been wanting a new rifle for carrying into the Blue Ridge Mountains after pigs, deer, and possibly bears. The Model 77 Stainless in 350 Remington Magnum is what has struck me perfect for this scenario. After handling a new Hawkeye stainless and comparing it to the Standard 77, I really liked the look of the bead-blasted finish and the new LC6 trigger is supposedly better too. The Hawkeye isn't chambered in 350RM though. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the 350RM will be offered in the Hawkeye or should I just buy the standard stainless 350RM and bead blast it myself? I do already have a bead blaster. My original thought was to buy the Model 77 standard, bead-blast it, add a timney trigger, and then drop it into an Accurate Innovations Laminated stock. Is there any reason for me to holdout for the Hawkeye or will be I as well served with the Standard 77 put together like I described? Thank You for any thoughts and/or constructive criticism on this line of thought.

Why not look at the Hawkeye stainless in .358 Win? Should be about perfect for use in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have 2 rifles in .358 Win and will probably buy a Hawkeye chambered for it also.

Hondo, i wondered the same thing. I would buy the regular 350RM SS which you can get for a much lower price ..have it bead blasted and install a Timney trigger. YOu won't have the steel floorplate but have you ever heard of anyone having problems with any sort of Ruger floorplate?

I think if you want the 350 cartridge I would get the standard.
Ruger is very strange about ordering parts but I bet they would send you a new floor plate, Bead blast it, get the new floor plate and a NEGC banded front site and the pop on peep for the ruger slot and a set of WARN QD rings with a low power variable.
Wow I think I wnat one too !
but make mine blue and wood...tj3006

Thank You for the replies. I seriously thought about the 358 Winnie, but I wanted a little more velocity than the 358 offered; no offense to the 358 Win. Sounds likes a trip to the Gun Shop is in oreder Big Grin It just seemed like a really neat package for this area and game. Have any of you used the Accurate Innovation stocks? I am planning to get the Nutmeg/Black color. I really liked the idea of the full aluminium bedding block and the reinforced wrist. Once again, Thank You for the input. Sounds like the Standard will work fine. I will try to post some pictures when I get it all put together.
