apparently Ruger has opted to build the Hawkeye 375 Ruger with a heavy barrel. The June, American Rifleman came in todays mail, and the report states that "The 23" long barrel tapers from 2.93" at the receiver to 1.69" at the muzzle...". Recoil should be pretty easy on the shoulder...if you can hold the rifle and fire it! Rich DRSS | ||

At 7 and 3/4 lbs I don't see that as being terribly heavy... My Weatherby weighs more then that.... It's not exactly your backpack, carry for 20 miles rifle but it doesn't seem out of line to me for something you might have to carry for a few miles... Ken.... Sharpshooter - I too questioned those dimensions and a number of other obvious boo-boos in that article. If the barrel at the receiver was 2.92", it would be larger in diameter than the receiver. Yeah Rich, I did after the next post... Then, once I let the numbers sink in, I thought "GEEZ what the ???"... Yeah, something is definitly a typo there somewhere.... Sounds like a barrel you would use to chamber a 20 or 30 mm round  ...I didn't think it was worth updating my post but perhaps I should have.... Ken.... It appears many are so anxious to quickly print something on the hot new Ruger that some mistakes are making it into the published articles. To put the barrel contour into perspective, the 375Ruger shares the same contour as the mkII 338WM out to the forend. The 375Ruger will drop into any stock inletted to fit the factory 338. Mine sits in an older 338WM take-off "canoe paddle" stock. GVA | |||

Makes it easy if one desired an after market stock. "tongue in cheek": a 3" to 2" tapered 23" barrel would have NO KICK!! Also no carritibilty! (does that word exist?) | |||

I read that article, I figured those measurements were the circumference. The diameters would be 0.93 at the receiver and 0.54" at the muzzle. | |||

yeah, except one would expect a barrel with a 3/8" diameter hole in it to have at least a 1 1/8" diameter at the receiver...? Rich DRSS | |||

29.3mm and 16.9mm is 1.154" and 0.665" respectively, which, without haveing a hawkeye and set of calipers in front of me, I suspect is demn close | |||
